What can I use NanoGPT for?

Chatting with any of about 1,000 AI models, coding through an OpenAI-compatible API, writing and editing, roleplay and companion chats, and image, video and audio generation. One balance pays for all of it.

Do I need a subscription?

No. You can pay per use with a crypto top-up from $0.10, or by card from $1 the first time ($5 after that). The optional Pro plan costs $12 a month and includes 60M input tokens a week on open models and 100 images a day.

How are the “best models” on these pages chosen?

From NanoGPT’s live benchmark and usage data, the same data behind the Benchmarks page, with at most two models per maker on most lists so you see a range. The rankings refresh as new results come in, so the picks change when a better model ships. See the benchmarks.
