How is NanoGPT pricing calculated?

Pricing is based on tokens (roughly 4 tokens for every 3 words). You pay for input tokens you send and output tokens the AI returns.

Does NanoGPT add a markup to API pricing?

No. Text model API usage is billed at the model’s list price - for example GPT-5.5 costs $5 per million input tokens and $30 per million output tokens, the same as OpenAI charges directly. Every chat completion and Responses API response includes the exact amount charged, so this is verifiable on any request. The only exceptions are opt-in: manually pinning a specific provider adds the applicable provider-selection markup (normally 5%, with route-specific exceptions), and bring-your-own-key requests are billed 5% of the normal model cost.

Are there fees when adding balance?

No. Deposits are credited in full - there is no percentage fee on card or crypto top-ups.

Is a subscription required?

No. NanoGPT is pay-as-you-go by default, with an optional subscription for users who prefer it.

Do you offer volume pricing or discounts?
