The full answer

Regular Users and Bot Creators Other people can't browse your private conversations, and the person who made the character can't view your chat logs.   Janitor AI's team Technically, they can. Chats are stored on their servers and aren't end-to-end encrypted, so staff could access logs. They don't read them for fun, human review only happens in rare cases, usually when an automated filter flags a serious Terms of Service violation.
Third-Party APIs or Proxies If you use an external API (like OpenAI or Anthropic) or route your messages through a community-run or public reverse proxy, the operator of that proxy or API service can see the text passing through it.

The fact that most people miss is that your API provider sees everything. If you've set up a proxy or custom API, every message you send passes through whoever runs it.

That last one is the only part you actually control, and it's worth choosing deliberately. NanoGPT doesn't log or retain prompts, so your chats pass through and aren't kept.
